The rushing sounds indicate that the dishwasher is filling and cleaning. During the rinse cycles and the main wash, you’ll hear a swishing sound as the dishwasher sprays water around inside the tub.

The appliance’s motor may also make humming sounds. Usually, it indicates the fan cooling the main pump motor is rotating, or your disposer is grinding up food waste. These humming sounds are normal and shouldn’t make you worry.

2. Loud, buzzing sounds
