5 Different Heating Systems That Will Warm Up Your Home

As the winter season approaches, there is an increasing demand for heating systems all over the area. Even with the milder cold weather, having a dedicated heating system will keep you warm and safe during the holidays.

If you’re thinking of getting one yourself, there are many types that you can choose from. Here is a quick guide to help you determine the best heating system for your home before winter.

1. Geothermal Heat Pumps

Geothermal heat systems typically use a heat pump. Being more ground-based, it uses this to transfer heat from the air onto the much cooler ground. This way, heat travels through the ground and encloses itself all throughout your home.

Thanks to the consistency of underground temperatures, this heating system will prove to be effective all year round. You might have to use a lot of resources to install this type of heating system in your home, but the pay-off is worth it.

2. Ductless Systems

A ductless system uses mini or multi-splits that can deliver heat without the use of ducts. This is especially useful for older types of homes that don’t have any ducts in their structures. This way, warm or cool air passes through a built-in tubing system that comes with the unit.

There is an outside unit, an air handler, and a refrigerant that all work together to keep your home warm. The outer unit and the other parts of this system are connected by the tubing that we mentioned earlier.

Mini-split ductless systems can warm up an entire room, and maybe even two. On the other hand, multi-split systems can warm up several rooms at once.

3. Air-Source Heat Pumps

Like geothermal heat pumps, this air-source system uses heat pumps to let warm air travel from an outside source to the inside of your house. This might be the most effective heating system to use in places like Florida, where it can work as a coolant as well as a heater.

The only downside to an air-source heat pump is that it will depend on how the weather is outside. Because air as a source is much more fickle than a geothermal source, it isn’t as consistent. However, it is still an effective heating system during the much colder winter season.

4. Forced Air Systems

Perhaps the most common form of heating system is the central heating system or the forced-air system. Rooted in this system is a furnace that heats up the air for you and lets the hot air travel all over your house.

In contrast to ductless systems, this will need a dedicated ducting system with vents and registers to help the air travel through it. There is also a central thermostat that you can use to control the severity of heat.

The only downside to this type of system is that you cannot control how much it covers the house. If you live in a house with unoccupied levels and rooms, there is a high chance they will still travel through these areas, thus wasting energy.

Conclusion

Investing in a good heating system is a great way to keep warm even in the winter season. However, it isn’t as easy as picking one that you like. First, evaluate the types of heating services and think about their compatibility with your home.
